random cuteness

Sloane has been asking me to do her hair pretty more often now. She has a whole load of 'girly' hair stuff that she loves for me to use. Cameron loving on Finn :)

Yes, more dog stuff

Yeah, I finally figured out what kind of dog Finn is! It has been driving me nuts because we knew she really didn't have a whole lot of Australian Shepherd in her unfortunately. She is too small, she has a tail, her coloring is wrong, and she has perky ears. Turns out she is an Australian Kelpie- well, at least she is still an Aussie :) They are herding dogs like shepherds. Sloane really doesn't like this part of Finn. She is pretty sure Finn is going to eat her up. I have to rescue her from the middle of the room often because she is screaming bloody murder because Finn is nipping at her feet. She doesn't do it enough to hurt but it is slightly unnerving. Apparently dogs like her need 'jobs' in the family in order to be less destructive and it will help her from 'herding' the kids so much. Not just physical work, but something like bringing in the paper every morning or waking the kids up...Well, she isn't allowed upstairs for now- that is the kids 'safe' zone so they can play with their toys without them getting chewed up. Maybe we will have her bring us the remote control for the tv...she REALLY does like that remote! LOL! Does anyone have suggestions for dog jobs???
We got to do something fun the other day- we stopped at a neighbors house and let Finn play with their dog that is a similar size. They wrestled for about an HOUR! They didn't ever end up fighting. It was pretty cool.

Finn is back

Well, Finn left Wednesday morning to go get spayed and microchiped. She was back Thursday evening doing great! Just as active as ever! Darn it! She has a collar to wear but doesn't have to wear it all the time, only when she is in her crate and if she starts biting at her incision. She is all up to date on everything though so she shouldn't need any shots for a year! We did look at her paperwork and she is 5 months old (I think I might have said she was only 3 months old earlier) We are starting to think she may not grow too much bigger than she is now- darn it- we wanted a big dog! Guess we need to buy another one, a 'friend' for her! And the good news is that Finn is starting to lose some teeth. She broke one the other day, and today Jim found a baby canine tooth laying in the carpet! Yeah! Hopefully the crazy chewing won't last much longer!

To date, we have had to throw away 1 pair of Sloanes shoes (my favorite ones too!),
1 pair of Cameron's power ranger dress up gloves (shhhh!)
various nerf bullets/discs
She REALLY likes to eat books but we haven't had to throw any of those away yet.......

Finn Fluffy Cool Dog Mitchell

It didn't take too long to decide on the name Finn. Ethan came up with it- his ideas were Finn or Jake (yes, that is what he wanted to use for Sloane too) He apparenly likes boy names for girls! LOL! And Camerons idea was Fluffy. Well, that name just sucked. Sorry Cam. We decided that at least Finn was an original name. So Cameron got to take care of the middle name- hence the Fluffy Cool Dog... :) Finn took to her name right away, so I guess Ethan did a pretty good job!

Finn is definately Cameron's dog. They have had a bond since she walked through our door. It is really cute to watch them run and play together. She can really make Cameron giggle!
Ethan has had fun playing fetch with her and running around crazy too, Sloane on the other hand....I think Finn is a bit too much puppy for Sloane. Last time we had a dog that size she was old and just laid around (she is about the same size now that Bagel was) so she isn't sure what to think about all this running and jumping and chewing on HER things! She likes to hug the puppy but most of the time she just wants Finn to leave her alone. LOL!
One of the great things about Finn is that her foster home had kids and lots of dogs so she loves kids and she is really good with other dogs. She has met quite a few of the other dogs in our neighborhood and she has done really well with them! Yeah!
Today Finn is gone for 2 days- she went to get spayed and microchiped. Her fostermom came and picked her up this morning, and will bring her back Thursday night. I thought poor Cameron was going to cry this morning. I will say that I am looking forward to her being calm for a few days. and while she is gone I am going to take advantage of it and get some of the kids toys moved into their bedrooms, or at least upstairs. We are putting to baby gate back on the stairs for now to keep her from going up there and chewing all the legos, batmans, dinosaurs, and babydolls! This dog is alot of work!
